Twenty TOFC players accepted into Provincial High Performance Program

For the first time ever, TOFC (Thompson Okanagan Football Club) has had 20 players accepted into the Provincial High Perfomance Programming. In previous intakes, the program has had a handful of Thompson Okanagan representation with the previous highest number of candidates at nine. These players represent the u13-u16 age groups and some will go on to represent BC at the provincial level.

TOFC Chairman, Brian Dewar states. “We are very pleased with the number of players attending the program. This is one of the next steps for these athletes that are a part of the TOFC program. We are very proud of these individuals as it is an example of the continued dedication of all of our players to strive to the higher levels. It is also a very regional representation as each of TOFC’s feeder clubs are represented. We have players that have come through our partner districts and it shows the development pathway is strong.”

TOFC’s feeder clubs include Kamloops Youth Soccer Association, Shuswap Youth Soccer Association, North Okanagan Youth Soccer Association, Kelowna United on behalf of the Central Okanagan Youth Soccer Association and Pinnacles FC in the South Okanagan.

“This is fantastic news that we have doubled our representation from nine to twenty players in the last year.” says TOFC interim Technical Director Jason Thompson.” We strive to put players at the next level and this is a great result.”

The BC Soccer High Performance program continues to be based around the EA Sports BC Soccer Premier League with TOFC one of 8 teams in the league. The BC Soccer high performance program works closely with the Canadian National Teams programs and the Whitecaps.
