BCSPL Players commit to university soccer programs

85 graduating players from the BC Soccer Premier League commit to university soccer programs

The EA SPORTS BC Soccer Premier League is pleased to announce the 85 players from its U18 boys and girls divisions who have now committed and are on their way to university soccer programs for the 2015 fall season. These commitments include schools in the NCAA, CIS, PACWEST, and even overseas to the United Kingdom.

Leading the way as post-secondary destinations for BCSPL players was Simon Fraser University with 12 players, followed by the University of the Fraser Valley with 10 players committed. The University of BC was a close third with 9 players committed from this class of BCSPL players.

Mike Mosher, Head Coach of the UBC men’s team for the last 19 years, noted “The BCSPL is the place where the majority of our recruits have come from since its inception four years ago. As a university coach the league games provide an opportunity to see the best players in BC on display almost every week”.

Rob Giesbrecht, UFV women’s soccer Head Coach, added, “the BCSPL produces elite players because the players are competing in a best vs best league platform. The professional environment the players train and compete in prepares them to succeed at the next level. We are constantly observing BCSPL games to find future members of our program”.

Mountain United FC led the way for BCSPL clubs with a combined 26 players from their graduating U18 teams now committed, with Surrey United SC close behind with 23 players.

Congratulations to all players, and their clubs, for working hard to secure these exciting opportunities!
