99 Boys cement playoff spot, 01 boys keep option open

TOFC 99 Boys are in to the playoff round, and 01 Boys remain in playoff contention with wins over Fraser Valley this past weekend.

The TOFC U13 boys had a successful weekend in Abbotsford, coming away with a 3-2 victory over Fraser Valley FC.  TOFC opened the scoring just 8 minutes into the game with a pass from Edvin Holok in front of the Fraser Valley net which was finished by Lucas Hicklin.  Lucas took a long pass from defender Ben Rever just a minute later to score a second goal.  TOFC let their guard down in the second half and gave up a goal to Fraser Valley 47 minutes into the game and then a tying goal with just 10 minutes remaining.  TOFC fought back with success as Nate Portz pushed through and scored the winning goal with two minutes left in the game.  The win keeps TOFC tied for the fourth and last playoff position going into the last league game of the season.  The boys will face Coquitlam Metro Ford on Saturday June 14th in Kamloops.

First Game Scoring/Highlights:

TOFC took the lead 20 minutes into the game, when TOFC mid fielder, Quinn Large (Kelowna) raced in and let fly a hard shot. The Fraser Valley keeper blocked the shot, but another TOFC mid fielder, Nic Banman, (Kelowna) tapped in the rebound.

TOFC right-back Samad Twemlow-Carter (Kamloops) was having great overlaps and crosses all game. In the 39th minute Samad completed another brilliant cross where Kamen Wimbelton (Kelowna) directed in a beautiful header and extended the lead to 2-0.

With 2 minutes left in the game, TOFC mid fielder Graeme Lewis (Prince George) showed off his fancy foot as he moved around defenders, penetrating into box before he was grappled and taken down. Graeme capitalized on the ensuing penalty kick and completed the 3-0 victory.

TOFC keeper, Taitum MacAulay (Vernon) intercepted crosses and distributed the ball well as he captured another clean sheet.

Today’s victory grants the boys a birth into the semi-finals of Premier League provincial championships. They continue to be ranked as one of the top 4 teams in the BCSPL for 5 straight seasons.
