Season Ends for U13 Girls and U14 Boys

The TOFC U13 Girls closed out their EA Sports BC Soccer Premier League season on June 22nd with a 5-0 loss to Coastal FC in the BC Premier Cup Semi Final Game. The TOFC girls came out hard and were putting on pressure early, but a quick transition and counter-attack led to two quick goals and a 2-0 lead for Coastal early in the first half. The TOFC girls continued to play with intensity, and there were several chances at both ends of the pitch. Entering the 2nd half with a 3 goal deficit, TOFC applied more pressure, and gave themselves several excellent scoring opportunities. Forced to make multiple spectacular diving saves, the Coastal FC keeper was the difference and was able to keep TOFC off the scoresheet. The game ended in a 5-0 loss. As has been the case all season with this team, when faced with adversity this group showed heart and played to the final whistle with intensity and determination. Head Coach Brian Dewar says, “the girls played a strong game, and did not quit despite being down. The early deficit made it a challenge to recover and bring the game back against a talented Coastal team. I am very proud of the effort this team brought, each and every one played with grit and heart. To make the semi finals in a high performance league such as this is an accomplishment itself. ”
